Fly Being Tied: Weedless Bendback Minnow
From Allen:
“This fly has served me incredibly well across a wide range of species and environments. I’ve caught trout in Chilean Patagonia, largemouth bass in Portugal, and also landed snook, redfish, juvenile tarpon, smallmouth, crappie, bonefish, barracuda, northern pike, northern snakehead, spotted bass, seatrout, striped bass, false albacore, and several species of jacks – plus probably another handful if I really sat down and counted.
I tie it in both unweighted and weighted versions. For weight, I typically use tungsten cones or Wapsi lead eyes. When tied with lead eyes, I refer to it as a Clouser Bendback Minnow. In fact, the big Arapaima I landed came on a yellow-bodied, red-headed version of that variation.
Looking forward to tying with your group!”
