September Guest Instructor: Allen Rupp
Fly Being Tied: Red & White Hackle Fly

Allen’s personal species list on this fly (so far) is: Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Largemouth Bass, Peacock Bass, Redfish, Smallmouth Bass, Snook, Spotted Bass, Striped Bass, Tarpon, and Walleye.
Homer Rhodes Jr. developed the Red & White Hackle Fly in the 1940s for the Florida coast and Everglades. It worked so well that anglers started throwing it at everything in reach.
Join Allen for our Anchored Outdoors Fly Tying Night. We’ll go through the full tying sequence, dig into the history behind the pattern, and talk about why that red and white combination keeps triggering strikes across so many different species and water types. Whether you’re chasing Largemouth Bass on a farm pond or Redfish on a Louisiana flat, this fly belongs in your kit.
