Anchored Podcast:

Today I’m joined by Tim Landwehr, owner of Tight Lines Fly Fishing Company in De Pere, Wisconsin, and one of the pioneers of modern smallmouth bass fishing on the fly. With decades of guiding experience, Tim has helped transform the way anglers approach warmwater fisheries, particularly through his innovative use of drift boats and fly fishing techniques on Wisconsin’s rivers. He’s also the co-author of Smallmouth: Modern Fly Fishing Methods, Tactics, and Techniques, and has been featured in numerous fishing publications and films. From his early days guiding trout in Montana to building one of the Midwest’s most respected fly fishing operations, Tim has dedicated his life to the sport and the people who love it. I hope you enjoy this conversation.

You may have noticed me wearing Skwala fishing apparel for the past year or so, and I gotta say, I’ve been really impressed with everything I’ve tried. I love the way they design gear. They manage to strike a perfect balance between durable and functional but also comfortable and mobile. I stay warm and dry, but never feel cramped or restricted when I’m wading, casting, or rowing. I’ve enjoyed fishing in their apparel so much, I recently joined their team as an ambassador. We’ve even been working together on ways to translate their expertise with technical fly fishing apparel into gear that’s specifically designed for women, and I’m really excited about the progress we’ve made. Saltwater fly fishing can involve a lot of gear. Between the rods, reels, lines, flies, wading boots, and sunglasses, it’s easy to feel like you need a truckload of equipment before you ever hit the water. Fortunately, you can keep things much simpler than that.
